A pilot project at BMW's plant in Steyr, Austria has also been completed.

From March of this year the engineers of evopro have worked on two independent projects at BMW Motoren Gesellschaft's engine manufacturing plant in Steyr, Austria. The plant is a key production facility for the Bavarian car factory, because this is where the 4, 6, and later 3 cylinder petrol and diesel engines will be assembled.

The end of May saw the completion of the development and commissioning of the PLC program for two pieces of conveyor equipment. Besides integrating the equipment into the Witron production control system, the engineers were also responsible for the communication between the sensors and the central system necessary for transporting pallets. Schiller, which was contracted by Witron, has chosen evopro because of its professional capacity, and more potential equipment program development is on the horizon thanks to this successful project.

In the other project three engineers of evopro Ltd. have done software development and commissioning working together with evopro AG until the end of August. The engineers have completed PLC programming and commissioning for two engine block machining cells. The project required careful attention and close cooperation with the customer, because it used the latest version of BMW's production management system (PSS), therefore there was no prior methodology to rely on.
