A complex contract to be carried out at the Sindelfingen plant is recognition of evopro's engineering professionalism.

The team of evopro systems engineering Ltd. has started work on the 4 year contract that lasts until 2018 at Daimler's central plant in Sindelfingen. The first electric designs have already been delivered successfully.

Daimler plans to start assembly of 3 new models (wagon, CLS Coupe, CLS Shooting Brake) in the second half of 2018 while continuously phasing out the current production of Mercedes E-class models. As a partner of KUKA Systems GmbH. which was awarded a contract for the mechanical conversion of the production lines, evopro's task is to integrate the new technology at the same time as the manufacture of the older models is being phased out. The conversion of the production line responsible for the outside sidewalls includes the entire electric and control technology functionalities. The engineers of evopro are in charge of hardware and software design, virtual and on-site commissioning, robot programming and optimization, and production start-up and support. About 20-25 engineers are constantly dedicated to the implementation of the project.

A significant challenge of the 4 year long, several million Euros worth project is that the conversion has to happen during continuous production, therefore certain operations can be performed only during the weekend breaks (from Friday afternoon to Monday morning). After the changes the production lines will have to continue uninterrupted assembly of the current models during weekdays.
