A success story of a decade – this was the 10th year evopro has sponsored the National István Ajtonyi Control Technology Programming Competition
The 11th National István Ajtonyi Control Technology Programming Competition was held on April 8-10, 2015 in Pécs organized by the Higher Education Control Technology Educational Methodology Association (FIOM). Once again - after 10 years - the host of the competition was the Mihály Pollack Engineering Faculty of the University of Pécs, which is where the traveling competition and evopro's involvement in it has started in 2006. At the opening ceremony FIOM's newly elected president, Dr. Attila Bencsik has especially thanked the support of the Hungarian engineering company which helped boost the reputation of the competition. The reward for the decade of collaboration is the increasing number of participants which broke a new record every year, the increasing foreign interest in the competition, and the professional standard that has been raised higher and higher, increasing the level of competition, too. As for the future, the joint goal of FIOM, the organizer, and the sponsors is to elevate the competition to an international level.
This year 23 teams from 15 Hungarian and foreign institutions - a total of 67 engineering students - have competed for the title of best control technology programmer. Besides the Polytechnic College of Szabadka, a returning guest of the competition, the German University of Applied Sciences Würtzburg-Schweinfurt has also entered a team for the first time.
The competition consisted of one theoretical and two practical rounds – for the latter the technology was provided by the two main sponsors of the competition, evopro and Festo Didactive. During the practical round the teams had four hours in the morning to write the control program to solve the problem. In the afternoon a ten-member jury evaluated the solutions while technical demonstrations were presented.
The students of the Mihály Pollack Engineering Faculty of the University of Pécs have won the competition for the fourth time in a row. The team of the University of Szeged captured second place, while third place was shared by the students of the University of Óbuda and the Polytechnic College of Szabadka.
